Music Publishing & New Media Agency

With the arrival of the EU, the countries in the region are forced to adapt their law on copyright and intellectual property. How fast will we adapt to new legislations, what are the changes that have already been made and how is copyright going to be regulated in the age of new technologies and distribution channels? All of the questions above stirred quite a discussion between the ‘Copyright Evolution’panel discussion participants, Kristina Delfin Kanceljak, Nenad Marčec, prof. dr. sc. Igor Gliha and IDM's president & CEO, Tomo in der Mühlen and audience members at this year’s Weekend Media Festival in Rovinj/Croatia. The audience also had the opportunity to hear how copyright and intellectual property is applied to music, written word, images, recordings and design in general.

The panel discussion also touched controversies – the issue whether copyright is endangering creativity, what about the Creative Commons movement, and is there a conflict between copyright and intellectual property on the one hand and the new generations of creative professionals and media consumers on the other.

The volume of the given practical advice from the experts who know the legislation and its usage on a case by case basis shows that the general audience and the creators - photographers, writers, journalist and musicians in the region aren't familiar with their rights and the true value of their works. Due to limited timing (the discussion was only 60 minutes, but continued way over the term) a lot of questions were left unanswered. However, this was a great introduction for all copyright newbies and those in search for intellectual and creative protection.

Famous American rapper Gucci Mane recently released his new single "Gucci time" in which he used a sample by Jutice's "Phantom", sampled from Goblin's famous film theme "Tenebre".
The song "Tenebre" is composed for the horror film of the same title, directed by Dario Argento almost 30 years ago, but the progressive electro-rock sound Goblin created, found its new freshness in the contemporary and very popular French electro (Justice's "Phantom"), and then confirmed its modernity in the newest Gucci Mane's hip hop hit.

The samples taken from the Bixio catalogue of Italian film music, containig also the song Tenebre, have already been used many times in the world's highest hip hop production ((The RZA, Redman, Keith Murray, G-Unit), which only confirms with this latest example, that the quality and richness of the Bixio music are being recognized over and over in the global proportions.

The song "Gucci time"featuring SWIZZ BEATZ announced Gucci Mane's newest album entitled"The Appeal: Georgia's most wanted", that was released 6 days ago.
